The Down Low on Coffee Grinders

Coffee grinders are one of the pieces of the puzzle when it comes to brewing great coffee and most agree that a burr grinder yields better results that a whirling blade. Following are some grinder recommendations. Nicole Sauce has personally used the JavaPresse and the precursor to the Oxifame and the Mr. Coffee. The others were chosen based on recommendations from friends.

Hand burr grinder (handy for travel):

• Oxifame (comes with travel bag – a little more flimsy that the JavaPresse – price good, settings work via trial and error)
• JavaPresse (Great grinder, durable, grind settings take some time to learn)
• Porlex (Very nice, stainless hand grinder with easy to adjust grind settings)

Electric burr grinders:

• Cuisinart (not a bad one for $39)
• Capresso (for your higher end tastes)

The spice mill or blender approach
