Together, Alberto and Diego Guardia farm the 100-year-old Hacienda Sonora Estate in Costa Rica. When coffee prices plunged in 1999, Alberto doubled down and bought a mill so they could pioneer alternative coffee processing techniques and make the most of little-known varietals. The 100-hectare farm runs on water-generated energy.
